ประวัติศาสตร์ชาติไทยที่มีการบันทึกมาตั้งแต่อดีตตราบจนปัจจุบันได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงความพยายามที่จะก่อร่างสร้างชาติท่ามกลางมรสุมแห่งภัยคุกคามรอบด้านอันเกิดจากการใช้กำลังบังคับ หรืออันเกิดจากการรุกรานของชนชาติพันธุ์อื่นในหลายครั้งที่ประเทศไทยต้องล้มลุกคลุกคลานจากการสูญเสียพื้นที่ เขตแดนจากการถกูกระทำทารณุกรรมหรือจากการสูญเสียความมั่นคงของชาติ แต่ในที่สุดแล้วประเทศไทยก็สามารถสร้างชาติสร้างอาณาเขตและรักษาอธิปไตยจนยืนหยัดมาให้อนุชนรุ่นปัจจุบันได้มีผืนแผ่นดินที่มีเอกราชผืนนี้ไว้เป็นบ้านเป็นเมือง การสร้างชาติของไทยได้กระทำการรบป้องกันประเทศและรักษาอธิปไตยมาโดยตลอด เมื่อเป็นเช่นนี้ประชาชนชาวไทยจึงต้องปฏิบัติหน้าที่เป็นทั้งราษฎรและเปน็นกัรบในเวลาและโอกาสอันสมควร ซึ่งผู้นำสูงสุดของประชาชนในอดีตและต้องปฏิบัติหน้าที่เป็นแม่ทัพใหญ่ในการ รักษาเอกราชและประชาธิปไตยคือองค์พระมหากษัตริย์ที่ดำรงพระราชสถานภาพเป็นจอมทัพ เป็นศูนย์รวมใจของกำลังพลและยังต้องทรงดำเนินพระราชกรณียกิจ เพื่อบำาบัดฟื้นฟูและทำนุบำารุงประเทศในยามที่เสร็จจากศึกสงครามเพื่อยังความเจริญรุ่งเรืองความเป็นปึกแผ่นให้บังเกิดขึ้นในชาติและอำนวยความผาสุกให้บังเกิดอย่างอุดมสมบูรณ์ในมวลหมู่มหาชนชาว ไทยตลอดระยะเวลาและประวัติศาสตร์อันยาวนานของประวัติศาสตร์ ไทยเห็นได้ว่าสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นสถาบันหลักของชาติและเป็นที่ยึดเหยี่ยวชาติไทยของเรามาทุกยุคทุกสมัย ซึ่งพระมหากษัตริย์ไทย แต่ละพระองค์ต่างก็ทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณต่อปวงชนชาวไทยอย่างหาที่สุดมิได้ จึงนำมาสู่การเกิดขึ้นของมิติแห่งความจงรักภักดีอย่างลึกซึ้งของประชาชนชาวไทยทมีต่อองค์พระมหากษัตริย์ไทยและสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ และบังเกิดเป็นความตระหนักในการเทิดทูนและเทิดพระเกียรติสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์อย่างมิรู้คลาย

ทหารไทยหรือกองทัพต่างก็มีบทบาทในการสนองพระเดชพระคุณ ในราชการสงครามมาโดยตลอด ซึ่งเราคงปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่าในการศึก สงครามแต่ละครั้งนั้นตัวชี้ขาดในชัยชนะหรือความพ่ายแพ้คือทหาร มิเพียงแต่ฝีไม้ลายมือหรือความเชี่ยวชาญในเชิงสงครามเท่านั้นแต่สิ่ง ที่มีผลต่อจิตใจและเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนไปสู่ผลการรบนั้นคือขวัญของกองทัพและกำลังใจของทหาร ทั้งนี้เพราะหากทหารทุกคนมีขวัญและกำลังใจที่ดีย่อมนำมาสู่การดำเนินกลยุทธ์ที่มีประสิทธิภาพและไม่เป็นรอง ใครในการศึก อีกทั้งหากองค์จอมทัพทรงเสด็จพระราชดำเนินมาทรงการศึกด้วยพระองค์เองหรือพระราชทานพรให้แก่กองทัพแล้วไซร้สิ่งที่ตามมาคือความมุ่งมั่นปรารถนาที่จะเอาชนะข้าศึกศัตรูในกลศึก นั้นก็จะทวีความชัดเจนมากยิ่งขึ้นจนก่อให้เกิดพลังมหาศาลในการเข้า ประจญประจัญข้าศึก จนสามารถต่อตีจนเอาชัยชนะเหนือข้าศึกศัตรู โดยไม่ยากเย็นนักจึงกล่าวได้ว่า ทหารและกองทัพคือจักรแก้วที่ทรง อานุภาพเคียงคู่ในทิพยสมบัติแห่งองค์จักรพรรดิราช ซึ่งเมื่อยามแผลง ไปในทิศทางใดหมู่มวลปัจจามิตรก็จะราพณาสูรไปในทันที หรือกล่าว อีกนัยหนึ่งว่าทหารคืออาวุธอันทรงอานุภาพแห่งองค์พระมหากษัตริย์ที่จะทรงใช้ในการรักษาเอกราชและความมั่นคงของชาติซึ่งจากหน้า

ประวัติศาสตร์ในยุคที่ผ่านมา ทราบว่าทหารและกองทัพได้ร่วมกัน ถวายความจงรักภักดี ถวายพระเกียรติและสนองพระเดชพระคุณองค์ พระมหากษัตริย์ในรัฐกิจและราชกิจต่างๆ ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นศรัทธาและ สำนึกในพระมหากรุณาธิคุณทั้งในยามปกติและยามศึกสงครามโดย มิได้ย่อท้อต่อความยากลำบากแต่ประการใดในขณะเดียวกันที่องค์ พระมหากษัตริย์ ก็ทรงแผ่พระราชอำนาจคุ้มครองรักษาและอำนวย ความสขุใหแ้กท่หารหาญของพระองค์เพอื่ใหด้ำรงชวีติและดำรงสถานะ ได้อย่างมีเกียรติและศักดิ์ศรีในสังคมเพื่อเป็นการตอบแทนความมุ่งมั่น ตั้งใจในการอุทิศและทุ่มเทชีวิตจิตใจปฏิบัติกิจทหารสำหรับสร้างความ เป็นปึกแผ่นของชาติตลอดจนถวายราชกิจด้วยดีเสมอมา

กองทัพและทหารไทยในทุกยุคทุกสมัยจึงมีภารกิจและหน้าที่ใน การพิทักษ์รักษาและเทิดทูนสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์มาโดยตลอดซึ่ง เป็นการแสดงออกถึงจิตสำนึกในการตระหนักรู้ถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณ ขององค์พระมหากษัตริยาธิราชเจ้าของชาวไทยที่ทรงดำเนินพระราช กรณียกิจสร้างนำให้สามารถดำรงความเป็นชาติอย่างมั่นคงและสร้าง ความผาสุกให้แก่ประชาชนเมื่อเป็นเช่นนี้ สิ่งที่กองทัพและทหารไทย ในปัจจุบันพึงกระทำเพื่อบรรลุภารกิจในการพิทักษ์รักษาและเทิดทูน สถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ คือ การน้อมนำพระราชดำริและหลักธรรมที่ ปรากฏอยู่ในพระราชกรณียกิจโดยอัญเชิญมาเป็นแบบอย่างเพื่อปฏิบัติ ให้บังเกิดความสุขและความเจริญในสังคมไทย ควบคู่ไปกับการสอดส่อง ดูแลและปกป้องการกระทำของผู้ไม่หวังดีที่อาจส่งผลต่อการล่วงละเมิด สถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ในทุกรูปแบบ ซึ่งสิ่งที่ดีที่สุดอันพึงกระทำตลอด เวลาหรือทุกขณะจิต คือ ประพฤติตนให้เป็นทหารที่ดีของต้นสังกัดและ เป็นคนที่ดีของสังคมสิ่งนี้คือการแสดงความจงรักภักดีต่อพระองค์ท่าน อย่างสูงสุดแล้ว

The written history of the Thai Nation indicates that the nation founding efforts were carried out while threats were from all directions.Those threats were either threaten by forces or invasions. At times, Thailand struggled through losing of her territory, suffering from ill treatment and losing national security. However,Thailand had finally been founded with her territory and her sovereignty which has been safeguarded for the Thai descendant in the present to have this independent country as our homeland. The Thai nation founding had been carried out along with combating to defend the country and safeguarding the sovereignty. As such, all Thais were citizen and warriors as appropriate. In the past, the leaders of the people who played an important role as Commander-in-Chief of the national defence forces were the Kings. The Kings whose status was Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai armed forces and spiritual centre the personnel had to carry out duties to restore and maintain the country after the war time for the prosperity and solidarity of the nation, as well as the provision of peace for the Thai people.

Throughout the long history of Thai nation, it is clearly seen that the monarch institution always stands as a principle institution and the center of the nation in every periods. As every kings have the royal grace of immeasurable and unending that bring about the great dimension of deeply loyalty towards the King and the Monarch institution as reflected as the endless respect and honour to the Kings.
Thai military or armed forces all have significant roles in serving His Majesty the King in all warfare. This is undeniable that in each battlefield, the indicating factor for victory or defeat is the soldiers. Not only the excellent fighting skill or the expertise in battle that is influential for every warrior, but also the spirit of the army and courage of all soldier. The morale of the warriors could lead to an effective strategy and become a second to none. Moreover, if the Highest Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces takes an action himself or even blessed the army, it will strongly multiply the will to overcome the enemy until they are all easily defeated. It can be said that the military and the armed forces are the powerful Chakram (the ancient throwing weapon) of the great Emperor (ideal universal ruler) which swept the entire enemy away once it is thrown, in other words, the military is the mighty weapon used by the king in order to safeguard the sovereignty and security of the nation.
Pages from history told us that the military and the armed forces have always been strongly loyal and untiringly dedicated to the King’s State’s affairs and duties with wholehearted appreciation of his grace divine both in wartime and peacetime. The King had also enlarged his power to protect and exhilarate his military in order to maintain their honour and dignity in the society, to reciprocate the devotion and sacrifice life and soul in performing military duties for solidarity of the nation, as to carry out mission for the King’s duties.
The military and the Royal Thai Armed Forces have the primary responsibility to safeguard and uphold the Monarchy institution which reflect their gratitude towards the royal generosity of His Majesty the King of Thailand who has performed royal duties for the strength of the nation and harmony among people. Within this respect, to accomplish their mission in safeguarding and upholding the Monarchy institution, the military and the Royal Thai Armed Forces need to embrace His Majesty the King’s initiatives and ethics which are often reflected in royal activities as a model code of conduct in order to bring peace and prosperity to the Thai society, while monitoring and preventing ill-intentioned person from violating the Monarchy. Hence, the best way to show royalty towards His Majesty the King is to conduct oneself as a professional soldier in the unit and a good citizen of the society.
